Website Development tips!!

There is no getting around it, there's a lot that goes into developing a quality website. Hundreds if not thousands of books have been written on the topic. Here, is a “do's and don'ts” format, that contains a few of the most important features your website should incorporate.

Do's
1) What is your mission? Every company has one and so should you. It doesn't have to be complex, just figure out what you want to accomplish through your site. If you want to promote sleep aid medication with an information site, your mission could be something like this –
“Create a website that will inform consumers in a clear and concise format about how sleep works, causes of insomnia, the harsh effects of losing sleep and include reviews and suggestions of products that are available that can help cure sleep disorders.”

2) Very much like writing a paper in college, you need to map out what you want to do first. Get an informed idea of the layout of the site, where buttons and images will be located, and how you're going to go about organizing your information. Once you have an idea of this on paper, move onto doing the html.

3) Make your info easy to navigate to and organized logically for your surfer. One word – usability. Nothing is more frustrating than being on a website and not knowing where to go!

4) Check out other product websites, including your competition, and see what they are doing that is making them successful. The best places for website ideas are other websites.

5) Spend time on your text. Anyone who is interested in your website and wants to use it as a source of information will read your text. Be sure to spell check, grammar check, and use your words to your advantage regularly. The text is what will sell your surfers on trusting you and using the products you recommend!

Don'ts
1) Do not use too many colors. The more colors you use, the more amateur and sloppy your website looks. Amateur = no trust = no conversions.

2) Don't use too many fonts, same reason as above.

3) Do not make a website that is one looooong page. Again, amateur.

4) Do not have HUGE blocks of text. Break up your text with key points, use headers, bulleted points, etc. for the major statements you don't want your readers to miss. People who are surfing will skim through looking for your main points and will be more likely to read your text if you spice it up and make it look exiting and interesting. Besides that, breaking up your text makes your site look more pro and therefore, looks better.

Hope the post is of some help to everyone!

An affiliate marketing MUST!

Talking to your affiliate program

If this is your first time running an affiliate program website, it can be a little bit confusing at first. Is your site designed the right way to attract the right customers that you are targeting? Is my web content good enough? Am I using search engine keywords the right way? It can be a lot to handle right off the bat if you’re new to affiliate marketing, but don't worry because getting the hang of it is like riding a bike. Its simple, and you don't forget it.

One of the things that you can do to help yourself master each and every affiliate program is to simply talk to the company that you’re linking to. It sounds very simple, but believe it or not most affiliate marketers just set up a site, toss in some content and links and forget about it. They don’t go that extra mile that can mean the difference between selling a few units and selling a bundle. Here are a few tips for helping to boost sales on your affiliate marketing website.

*
Before you approach your seller, set up your site for a month or two and record the traffic and sales you are able to do. That way, when you go to the parent company, you can say, see, this was what I was doing, and these are the sales I got. No one knows the product you’re trying to sell better then the company that sells it. Using this knowledge to your advantage can work wonders for you. Maybe the company you link to just finished an internal study that shows that people are especially fond of a particular benefit of the product your selling that you don’t even know about! If you write your content around this benefit, you might see your sales double or even triple, its like writing an exam, and then having the answers in front of you so instead of scoring 75%, you can score a 90% or even a 100%, makes sense right?

*
By talking to the parent company, you’re sending a clear signal that you are taking this affiliate program seriously. And trust me, the people in charge WILL take note. Recent affiliate marketing studies have shown that well over 90 percent of all affiliate sales come from only 5 percent of affiliate websites! When you end up in that group, you’ll be making money faster then you ever thought possible.

*
By keeping in contact with the parent company, you can stay up to date with any sort of product changes, price changes, shipping rule changes or any other information that might impact in content of your affiliate website. Nothing will run a customer off faster than a promotion on your website saying that if a customer clicks here, they will receive free shipping, only to have it not be true. By staying connected to the parent company, you’ll always have the most up-to-date promotion info, newsletters, and latest offers to keep in your arsenal to boost sales and keep your customers interested!

The benefits of befriending the parent company of your affiliate programs is vital to running a good business. You owe it to your customers, and as well as yourself, to have the latest, most accurate information on your site at all times. Respect your customer base and they will reward you with loyalty that pays off big in the long run.
